Ms. Nirvana Shawky was appointed as Executive Director Partnerships, Advocacy, Engagement & Resource Mobilization in 2023.
With more than two decades working in academia, advocacy and campaigning, and Humanitarian assistance, Ms Shawky has a proven track record of leading successful teams in the Non-Profit sector, managing high-level relationships with wide range of stakeholders, and developing strategies to influence positive partnerships.
She has previously worked in CARE International, as Regional Director in Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe since 2018, leading multicultural teams from across the globe within Humanitarian response and Development. She has also worked with Crisis Action from 2010 to 2018 in multiple roles, most recently as Global Partnerships and Middle East and North Africa Director, where she also started as their Head of Advocacy and Campaigns in 2010.
Ms. Nirvana Shawky has been an advisor and board member to several institutions in the Middle East and is regarded for leading strategic advocacy on issues pertaining protection of civilians affected by conflicts. She is also a lecturer, researcher, and former journalist, who focuses on issues of international affairs of the Middle East, humanitarianism and protection of civilians, and regional institutions’ role in peace and security.
